Guide To Muscle Cars was published by Argus Publishing Corporation in Los Angeles, California. Desirable muscle cars were featured with technical specifications, options and performance data. The magazine provided restoration tips and was an advertising platform for manufacturers of reproduction parts. Publishing increased in 1985 to quarterly, and in 1986 it went to a bi-monthly schedule.
George Elliott was the publisher, and the first editor was Cam Benty. He was replaced in short order by Jim McGowan who stayed as editor to the end. Mr. McGowan later joined Hemmings Muscle Machines.
