Hemmings Muscle Machines is published monthly by Hemmings Motor News from Bennington, Vermont. The title was started in late 2003 and concentrates on post-WW2, U.S. muscle cars. Content includes restored vehicles, performance upgrades, auction updates, technical articles and excellent resources for part suppliers and for maintaining older vehicles. They also do in-depth write-ups on current and future collectible vehicles, highlighting the good and bad and providing estimates of market prices.
The stage was set for this title by Rods & Performance. When that title ended in July, 2003, Muscle Machines tooks its place with a high quality product. It did, however, drop content on pre-1948 vehicles.
Hemmings was started by Ernest Hemmings in Quincey, Illinois. In the late 1960s, he sold the business to Terry Ehrich. Mr. Ehrich operated multiple titles under the Hemmings brand until his death in 2002. The company was then sold to American City Business Journals.
