Thunder AM magazine was published by Martyn L. Schorr. The publishing company was Quicksilver Communications in Howarth, NJ. Schorr was the editor of dozens of automotive titles including Hi-Performance Cars and Custom Rodder. He was also the founding editor of Vette.
The February 1981 issue was retitled to the anacronym TA (Thunder AM).
Starting with the August 1982 issue, the title was once again changed to High Performance Pontiac.
Thunder AM was focused on Pontiac Trans Am, GTO and other performance vehicles. Seven issues were published, then the title was purchased by Stephen Schneider. Mr. Schorr joined Schneider's JHS Publications team as editor, and the magazine was re-titled as TA Magazine.
