This panoramic photograph of downtown Boston was taken by James Blakeway. Featured on the left is the downtown financial district with Fleet Center at the far edge. Fleet Center is home of the Boston Celtics basketball team and the Boston Bruins hockey team. The area on the distant right across the Charles River is known as Back Bay. In the foreground is the Charles River Dam, the Museum of Science and the Hayden Planetarium. The bridge further up the Charles River is the Longfellow Bridge. Boston is rich with United States history. The American Revolution began here in 1770, when British troops fired on an angry mob. |
