Pontiac Enthusiast was created by Don Keefe and R. George Ellis in 1993. Both gentlemen had previously worked for CSK Publishing on their High Performance Pontiac (HPP) title. This title competed with HPP and provided great coverage of vintage and current performance Pontiacs. Before his involvement in this title, Mr. Ellis had previously published a short-lived title, GTO Enthusiast. Only 8 issues were printed from the headquarters in Kew Garden Hills, New York. The title was owned by Milestone Miniatures, Inc., first in Flushing, New York. By late 1997, the headquarters was moved to Orange, California. It is unknown if there was an ownership change. Then in November, 2000, the table of contents page indicates the business entity became Auto Enthusiast Publications, Inc. Mr. Keefe left Pontiac Enthusiast at the same time and returned to HPP. There was likely an ownership change that prompted his departure. A new owner emerged in 2004, Amos Automotive Publishing in Lakeland, Florida. Amos also published Cars & Parts, Mopar Enthusiast, Corvette Enthusiast, Muscle Car Enthusiast, Mustang Enthusiast and Chevy Enthusiast. All these titles were consolidated into Auto Enthusiast magazine in late 2010. While Mr. Keefe worked for HPP until its demise in 2014, he also handled editorial duties for Smoke Signals magazine starting in 2006. In 2015, he then started Poncho Perfection magazine.
